Tips For Starting (And Sticking To) A Reformer Pilates Practice

Reformer Pilates is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways to tone and strengthen your body. The goal of Reformer Pilates is to strengthen the muscles while simultaneously lengthening them. It is a complete body workout that can help improve overall strength, posture, balance, and flexibility. 

Plus, you can do it all in the comfort of your own home.  However, like any new fitness routine, it can be difficult to stay motivated. If youre interested in starting a Reformer Pilates practice, here are some tips to help you get started and stay on track.   

1. Get the right equipment.  The right equipment is essential for a safe and effective Reformer Pilates practice. Invest in a good quality machine with adjustable tensions for different parts of your body. Make sure the machine you purchase is one that can be set up in your home or gym. 

 2. Create a practice space.  Creating a dedicated practice space will help to keep you motivated and focused on your workouts. This should be an area that is free from distractions, like TVs and phones. Instead, focus on finding an area that is well-lit and tranquil, so that you can focus on your form and breathing.  

3. Take class to learn the fundamentals.  Taking a Reformer Pilates class is a great way to learn the fundamentals of the practice.The instructor can help you develop proper form, understand the dynamics of the Reformer, and make sure you stay safe. An added bonus is that youll be motivated by the atmosphere of the class.   

4. Mix it up.  Reformer Pilates offers an endless range of exercises and variations. To remain motivated, try different exercises to work different parts of your body. 7. Listen to your body.  Your body will let you know when youre pushing too hard or if a particular exercise isnt right for you. Be sure to adjust the intensity and exercises to fit your bodys needs. 

Theres no rush to progress, so take your time and listen to your body.  Following these tips can help you start and stick to your Reformer Pilates practice. Remember to stay consistent and trust the process. With a little practice and dedication, you will start to see and feel the benefits of Reformer Pilates.
